Disneyland Hong Kong was great ... shows rides food.. it's something you wouldn't want to miss when your there vacationing. We made through all the shows and, really it was a whole day event. Of course the main language that they used is Chinese but there were translations all the way.. so it's not like you couldn't understand. .. :)

well this is number 5 .. NOV 15 2011 so i won't forget the day my Dog gave birth to her 5th litter of puppies , she's about 5 years old now and i'm so happy for her... i got the 5th puppy on film as she came out.. woh. almost past out. :) nah not really.. :)

i'm just posting this to remind myself of Co Founder of Apple, Steve Jobs contribution to the world of computers. I have not gotten any products from Apple myself( future looks promising :) ) but played around with it enough to make me a fan.

i was driving thru Tamparuli town this morning right and uhmmm .. yeah a loud thud .. and there goes my tire.. ahead of us .. thought it was a flat but nope the whole tire and rim with was rolling down the road in front .. luckily for us i wasn't speeding .. but still it was a tense moment. anyway i had change my tires on friday with the help of Dad and everything looked good.. tight and everything you know.. Dad brought the car to tambunan (somewhere in Sabah North Borneo Malaysia.. ) and luckily it didn't happen then.. going there goes up a hill and down again i really can't imagine what that would've been like.. .
we were lucky that nobody got hit by my speeding tire .. i mean that would've been like the next Final Destination movie in the making ... luckily there were helpful people around that caught it and rolled it back to where we were.. we were lucky that that didn't happen at the Tamparuli Bridge either cuz we would've probably gone off the bridge.. phew ..
no pictures to claim this actually happened but i'll just put up a picture of my jack that broke down cuz we were on uneven ground trying to lift my 4x4 .. out of all of this ruckus somebody actually got the nerve of running to the nearest 4D betting shop to buy my plate number... hope you win... !!!!!! lol

As you get to Telupid town you'll reach a round-a-bout ... if you go left it'll get you to town -> straight would get you to Sandakan and right will get you to Tongod .. you'll turn right .. until you get to these to Signs(by the way this is North Borneo.. Sabah.. :)) it's 41KM approximately 20Miles.??? .. of gravel, stones,, mud .. and off roading ... :) was it ugly road?.. pretty ugly.. :)

a river crossing.. not so deep when we crossed it .. but the ranger did say if it were rainy season your 2 day trip would probably take a week.. :) .. go figure..

as you get closer to the Research Center.. take note of the sign.. you want to go to Tampoi Research Station first.. that's where you get all the open air hostels.. camp ground and you get yourself registered.. you'll be greeted by wonderful and helpful rangers.. and they brief you on what you can and cannot do there.. jungle trekking is a must if you wanna see the flora and fauna.. but make sure you are equipped with trekking gear.. means no slippers no shorts no perfume --- ada limatok.. jungle leaches.. lintah darat.. sya pun hampir kana hisap .:) gajah beruang ular sawah ular cobra.. . all the wild animals you can think of ..

well here's the other place you can relax.. the imbak waterfalls.. just to let you know .. we did .. i mean jump into the water.. hahaha..

it took us about 2 hours to through the graveled road.. it was a slow ride cuz it was bumpy and all.. by the way didn't really show you the way.. but don't worry there are people around to let you know.. :)

YAY .. i've now been to almost 70% if Sabah.. :)

so i watched this movie Sunday and was well a bit disappointed.. really, i was expecting a more scifi-shootem up-duke nukem-startrek kinda thing but it was more of a paranormal activity -blair witch project in outer space genre with only about a 2 minute ok maybe 4 minute sighting of the actual alien...... the 18sg tag on this movie is far fetched because there really were no profanity in this movie... well maybe 1 or 2 words the most or it was probably just censored really well that i didn't catch any.. no nudity no sex, a decomposed body of a person(can a human decompose on the moon????) and the short surgery of an astronaut taking out a spider rock alien from his friends stomach.. hmmm .... this is more like a U tagged movie.. well probably kids wouldn't understand much or even care about this movie cuz they might as well watch the smurfs a second time other than this/... :).

the jetty of Kg Salinatan was just beside it's school, there were about 30 of us (or more i think) on 8 boats that fit me like a glove really ... a 3 hour roundtrip of splashes and fun ..

the first and last catastrophe during the trip.. one of our fellow boats started sinking.. and the only thing they could use were "minuman kotak" or drinks in little boxes to wade the water out of the boat. . .. you're talking about "4 plus heavyweight " guys sitting in the boat.. they almost squealed like girls (ok i'm exaggerating)but hey the water was only knee deep... :) lol

our driver in the front had to wade through stones using only their staff, guided us through the rapids and he was really good at it .. the times when it was on shallow water he would get out of the boat and pull//push until we were on safer waters so they could use their engines ...

along the way there was nature, beautiful scenery, people we could wave to, and it was just a nice relaxing boat ride ....

from getting booked by a cop ....

yep here in Sabah when they see a vehicle carrying loads of things in their back compartment of their vehicle they always think it's something they'd like to check.. but really i don't blame them.. could be illegal stuff that these people are bringing.. anyway this happen to me last nite going down the highway around Tambulugu at about 85km/h(i know i wasn't speeding sign said 90km/h) i passed a cop car .. in my mind i said he's gonna stop me and really they did .. he actually flashed his lights and there it was .. another milestone in my life "getting pulled over by a cop" at exactly 9:52pm sheesh.. was i gonna get booked .. . no it didn't happen .. see the sticker up there.. yep that saved me cuz i told him we were from Kg Salinatan Pensiangan(we had a health awareness/impact in that village .. as the sticker shows) and on our way home... i guess that was what he saw first .. well this is what he had to say ... "Bah Drive safely and Selamat hari raya.. i think.. )

why do accidents happen?.. don't know how to drive? thinkin that maybe the road is like the F1 circuit? talking on your cell phone? sleepy, ? or blame it on the other car for not flashing his/her signal light? whatever your reasons maybe.. just be careful .. you 'll never know when you'll be the victim or the cause.. :) ... well this happened yesterday when this 10 ton truck rammed into a car.. driver probably lost control and ended this way.. on it's side with it's windshield broken... i didn't see anyone hurt though but shocked yes ..

during this holiday season.. Just wanna wish everyone a SAFE trip Home.. !!! Happy Independence Day and Selamat Hari Raya!!!!

this Could be one of the Saddest days .. i dropped my Viewpad10

so i was waiting for the wifey who was enjoying herself wading in the pool at Likas Sport Complex ( i think i should start doing that too... ) anyway pulled out my Viewpad10 of 6 months.. and oh.. slipped out of my hands and it luckily fell on my foot first and then onto the brick floor... it doesn't look new anymore with a dent on both sides on top (if you hold horizontally) and also scratches on the back .. sheeeesh ..

if you don't know already about the Viewpad10, the one that i have has a dual OS (windows 7 and Android2.2(previously android 1.6 but it's now upgradeable)) would i recommend it .. well .. if you like something small and Windowy :) this works.. battery life is about 3-4 hours,, i have yet to install Angry Birds on the android it just doesn't work, it has USB and of course an audio out and mic.. even done skype on it. . am i hppy with it .well yeah... :)

I don't get it, is this dejavu, I mean HP selling off their tablets for cheaps cause they can't compete with the others especially the IPAD ... and then this happens ANTs attacking my HP notebook(well not really mine) and it's getting in through the docking connection... sheesh i know it's not food, it's probably all the little places they can sneak into .. so where do i get this ant aquarium...

this is the only way to get them from in between the connection .. yep the good ol vacuum.. sucked them pretty well .. i had to open the HDD bay, memory bay the battery ... they were all over ..that got rid of them.. but get this, the most strangest thing, they retaliated.. i didn't get it on picture but this morning at work while i was sitting down at my desk .. i felt this pain on my toe and when i looked my socks were filled with ants and they got thru a small hole and started biting me between the big toe and the second one.. it's the red spot... yeah that one.. :)

i'll get you guys yet.. !!!! :)

so this is me braving the Dentists well.. delicate hands .. did it hurt? yeah the first time i went, he poked a needle on both side of the inner gums to numb me, geez that was almost unbearable, ended up feeling like the left side of my mouth was about to fall off, that would be the first time i would be mumbling my words when i talked, but he cleared/kill the nerves that were bothering me for almost a month. yep my tooth kinda decayed and broke (ok old but i know i've been brushing regularly for so long) and it exposed the nerve which caused pain when ever i chewed, breathed, as my heart pounded yeah it was giving me a big headache... well this picture shows the second time i've gone to kill more of the nerves.. stuck these small pointy needles and like started screwing it in.. anyway it didn't hurt that much this time round..

aaahhhhhh... so now it's all ok .. and i've got another appointment in three weeks to get it all filled up.. :) by the way .. i almost locked my jaw because i was like this for about 30 minutes.. can swallowing your tooth debris mixed in your saliva kill you??? :)

was driving along Jalan Sulaman and stopped at the UMS junction traffic light and lo and behold i see this car that was rather peculiar. the flag was a bit too low, it was already touching the ground but what really caught me was the way it was set up. yup dug a hole in his bumper and stuck a stick in it .. dude.. !!!

forget about getting a rope and tying it to what your window or trunk or something.. just make a hole on your bumper, get a stick tie the flag and shove it in.... so how far would you go??? sayangnya bumper... :) Happy Merdeka!!!!!!

went fishing yesterday

spent time with the wife and sister in law yesterday fishing at sepanggar jetty for about 6 hours and caught only one fish... uhhmmm forgot to take a picture of it .. but cooked it up and gave it to the dogs.. i'm talking about a fish that was about 5 inches and probably weighed about 200g ... but you know what i didn't actually catch it .. twas the wifey so... i'm not the man.... :)

so i went to the hospital with my wife(her appointment today), as we got out of the hospital a speeding truck almost like road killed us in a very populated parking area.. it was a good thing we ran across, cuz when i heard the truck coming towards us (on a one way street) i knew that it was not slowing down. i wanted to throw a rock at that truck but i didn't .. anyway he was arguing with his wife.. a little boy just sitting in between them but their voices were loud .. i saw a punch thrown at the passengers side .. the truck swerved a bit.. what has this world come to ..

guess what i bought today... fishing gear for my wife and i... :) cost uhmm my wife doesn't even know this.. hehheeh rm400++ really it was not supposed to be but i guess if i could get her one too she wouldn 't be that upset with me spending money on something like this... was actually inspired after seeing a relative of mine catch a monstrous 3kg fish... white fish.. whatever it's called but now i want too... :) well will tell you about it a we will be going this weekend to catch them fishees.. hahah ..

3 weeks of agonizing pain... how do you mend a pulled muscle...

so i twisted i think my calf while swinging a golf club.. i don't know if it's pulled or twisted... i got one confirmation, it's not gout as the doctor said.. .. looks like a pulled muscle to me... it's been 2 weeks since i last met the doctor and the pain is still there.. he told me not to massage it .. and gave me some i guess muscle pills.. so how do i get rid of this .. cut the calf.. geez.. i don't think so... am no looking thru the internet... :( ...

wow... it's so close to the end of the year and it was just yesterday that we said happy new year... are you guys like thinkin that the days are just way to fast nowadays... i was just in college about 15 years back and now its like work and family and just like in the movies we grow.. and grow old... geez .. but how come i still think as if i'm not that old.. the body seems to be old but i still playing video games, riding roller coasters, listening to rnb, hiphop rock ... greenday , eminem, my chemical romance... hahahah... i dunno i guess that's how life is ... anyway christmas is coming to town.. and am going remember the good ol times life has treated me.... :) .. let's all be happy ... and peace to everyone... :)

ok so here are two photos.. the top one being the nonedited version which was not dodged and the other being.. anyway we have a legend here in our village where a certain tall ghost i mean even taller than a coconut tree wondering around.. history has it that we are occupying its pathway .. anyway here it is a footprint on my neighbors flower garden right in front of her house .. she doesn't have pets or other dosmetic animals .. but this footprint indicates something that we've never seen before.. so what is it? could it be the Tompulalangoi?... the really need to setup a cctv somewhere to catch the culprit... this is the second time this has happened in a week ..

well so i woke up this morning with a stiff leg .. i mean it was cramped big time... in my dream i was like the star striker of this football team.. i mean the star.. so i was running here and there with the ball .. getting closer to the goal post .. and for some unexpected i pulled a muscle.. actually a player from the other team somehow used his leg to pull mine as i was striking the ball and that's when i woke up... with that stiff leg..

i'm not a football(means soccer) player.. i watch it though.. but somehow i hope this is a good sign that i'm prospering in life.. :) looking towards a more healthier one and hopefully financially as well heheheheh .. :) have a nice day everyone.. :)

Just this past weekend Sabah had once again successfully held the Sabah International Folklore Festival.. it was a week of colorful costumes, traditional dances and most smiles from almost all over the world... 13 countries participated in this years SIFF( and it looks like it's going to be an annual event) 2 more from last year... next year we hope it's going to be a another great year for the performers and we certainly look forward to more culture from around the world...

so everyone should already be inclined to the famous Paul the Octopus psychic powers of determining the winners of the German games in the WC2010 finals. Until Germans qualifier to the semifinals was predicted that they would be playing for third was all but 100% accurate... it's hard to believe that a sea animal would now be famous for crushing Germanys dream for becoming the best football team this decade because of a mere choosing a piece of meat from a box. so now it's underthreat of being eaten, killed, grilled(poor thing)by these fans that put much hope on the German Team.

well just be wary these next couple of days that the octopus life is numbered. It will be remebered though.. as the now most influential octopus today... :) lol

the most goals conceded in a game so far by one team .. yesterday Malaysian time at 7:30p portugal gave north korea a whipping at the Green Point Stadium, Cape Town.. in my previous post they weren't to impressive getting only a draw against Cote' but this time around it displayed it's colors... anyways in other news chile 1 suisse 0 and spain 2 honduras 0... i was flipping channels watching Federer almost getting beaten by Falla of colombia and this is what Federer had to say after the game

hahahahah ... scared the living daylights out of him too.. well in other couch potatoing activities the recent US Open Golf Tournament at Pebble Beach was a blast .. i only got to watch Day 3 Live where tiger woods almost made an eagle on the 18th hole and would've been at -2 but got out with a birdie.. he of course tied for 4 with mickelson in the final round... Graeme Mcdowell from norther Ireland was the winner .. did I mention Lakers won.. :)

ok.. so everyone is into this fever now.. and i have had sleepless nights on occasion or two... am i going to wait for Brazil vs North Korea at 230am Malaysia time later ... no.. cuz i'm to darn sleepy... earlier tonite Nz vs Slv ended in a 1-1 draw and CteIv're vs Portugal ended in a 0 0 draw as well.. so didn't see drogba and ronaldo play that well.. but maybe it was the defenders that kept the ball out... but really was a boring game.. :(

The rear of my 4x4 is leaking ...

I've got a used Toyota Land Cruiser Mark II that I've been wanting to touch up. I have been having problems with this leak in the rear of my 4x4 for the past year. It looks like it's leaking through a small gap between the rear door and the body. Maybe the inline rubber seal has come undone but I have yet to check it out. Yeah for about a year now, but i'm sure Los Angeles auto repair wouldn't have any problem fixing this up. If only I had an auto mechanic hands i probably be able do it myself. i know how to change my oil and change a tire and this probably i would know too it's just that laziness sometimes creeps in. I once had my head gasket give out on me while driving an older car. Not cool at all, found out the motor oil was like close to empty. Told my dad to check it out before driving, but i'm not blaming him for it.. it's my car i should've checked it earlier, right? So i've never really owned a Brand New Car before. Maybe it's time for me to get one, a Honda Civic looks cool. Sleek body, and cool features.

Mother's Day treat for My Mom

We celebrated Mother's Day for my mom last Saturday that being the 8th of May a day earlier, and it was so nice to see her smiling. We had brought her to Novotel's High-Tea buffet for her to indulge in whatever food she liked. and the result, as you see up in the photo, empty plates, Satisfied. Happy Mothers Day.

Our trip to KL was rather scary because of the recent outbreaks of the H1N1 virus. To protect ourselves we both used surgical mask which was actually permitted on flights. But it seemed like everyone else was not that concerned about wearing this, well of course we took it off when we ate. REally, better safe that sorry.. :)

Fern and Anchovies

i gotta tell you this stuff is pretty good.. it's like a salad, not with all that really fatty dressing, just lemon juice, fern, anchovies, and those purple vegetables.. i think they're spring onions, and shallots too,,. .. just do em' like salad, make sure the anchovies are boiled ( but not too long) and mix them up all together... don't forget the lemon juice at the end... mmm mm. :)

so i started at 11pm.. ended at about 1230am .. and then went on FB .. wrong move.. i broke my spice bottle cuz i was too sleepy.. but i wanted to have a big breakfast in the morning.. so i had to finish making this dish.. you know what .. it was worth it.. :) lol

The Real Thai Tom Yum Gai (Chicken) The 8:30pm First Time Attempt

The ingredients - oil, shallots, garlic, ginger, kaffir lime (limau purut) leaves, tomatoes, lime, mushrooms, lemon grass, cilantro, chicken meat(cuz i eat chicken), fish cake(sorry don't eat shrimp/prawns needed the essence), fish sauce, salt and about 6 cups of water( you can add more if you want).

make sure lemon grass is crushed i put in about 3 stalks, chicken cut into medium pieces(i chose to take the skin off for health reasons, i only used a thigh and drumstick :0) about 4 kaffir lime leaves, about 3 tomatoes cut into to fours, not too much on the ginger a thumb size will do, a few onions and garlic..

i started off by frying the onions, garlic and ginger in oil

then adding about 6 cups of water

added in the kaffir leaves and lemon grass, bring to boil, let the water extract the essence of the kaffir leaves and lemon grass, after that add in the chicken and the fish cake(of course you can choose whatever meat you like) let it boil for about 10 minutes

add in other ingredients - mushroom, chillies, tomatoes .. try putting in baby corn.. for more vegetables, wouldn't recommend mixed veggies though( the ones in the packets) :)

add in the salt(2 tsp, or put more if it's not salty enuff), fish sauce(about 2 tbs will do, this stuff is salty), and vegetarian thai tom yum spicy chilli (originally they use nam prig pow for spice, i don't use this cuz it has shrimp in it)

add in the tomatoes last, you don't want it to like melt in the soup, it's nice to eat it chunky,

and there you have it, garnished with cilantro, eat it while it's hot... definitely clear your sinuses.. if you have it:)

ok.. that's not silver .. these are"Weights" made from steel sheets,.. saw this demonstration done during the 1st Bombon & Tagal Festival Kiulu 2010. These custom made weights are then attached to fishing nets and you know how it goes.. sinks with all the fishies trapped below.. :)

i was really excited to see this.. i skipped a chinese new year gathering for a special race on this particular date.. my reason... wanted to take pictures and never been to a real horse race before too .. yep this would be the first.. first race started at 12pm in the afternoon .. the grandstand was packed .. people were bidding on their horses.. luck was certainly on some of them.. ok.. i wondered to how it worked.. so i walked up to one of them cashiers and asked them.. i felt dumb and embarrased really but now.. i know.. :) .... i know how it all works.. yeah .. picking the right horses can get u some.. :) lol

so last sunday, feb 7, i had gone to the weekly "tamu" tuaran to get some fish.. yeah my wife had a craving for MY famous fish soup ... ok it's only good in my circle of family .. and friends.. but seriously, i gotta be in those tv cooking shows one of these days (they'd probably say i've fabricated they're recipes though) but still almost everyone has the same cooking style... :) ok on with the story, you see was walking through the fish market and most of the sellers were selling sardines and other small fishes .. i went up a little more and lo .. i mean lo.. here was one seller that probably braved the seas and braved the weather (monsoon season u know) cause he was the only one that was selling big red snappers, ikan putih (white fish? lol) tuna, and a couple more big ones.. quite expensive though... RM16-18/kilogram.. what do expect from near death situation at seas huh.. so guess what .. o bout the White Fish Head to cook for my lovely wife? no flesh but a head that u can suck, bite, slurp all the fish guts and brains and eyes out(okay . don't barf now it gets better)lol .. ok.. the wife got to eat my famous Fish Head Soup right but i didn't tell her the recipe but shhhh ... can you guys keep a secret.. here's the recipe... water, salt, ginger, tomato, hamchoi(pickled cabbage) white tofu.. of course you can add what ever u like.. :) .. hahahah.... here's the godown of my cooking show... from CUT to FINISH.. :) did i mention that having freshly squeezed kalamansis (lime) mixed in crush fresh red hot chillis is fantalicious on Fish Head SOup ... my mouth waters at it's mention... LOL!!!!!

this was the time we went to Toboh Ranau SDA church.. a little ways off from Bundu Tuhan Kundasang, i'm not sure if i had been there before, but sure was a bumpy ride.... nevertheless we had an awesome time with the members there... so after that social visit we had lots of time to hang-out at Kundasang .. it's basically nature up there.. really cool and refreshing at dusk and an awesome sunset when it's the right time.. especially like this.. by the way ..mt kinabalu is just like a step away from where we were.. ok.. not ... u still would have to climb another 5-6 kilometers uphill.. go figure.. but yeah .. was a great sunset with my 4x4!!!!!!!!!!!!

4th TA4XDC New Years Challenge 2010

it had been an exciting week... and all because we (our 4x4 group) were basking in the sun organizing our annual (four in years in a row now) 4x4 challenge ... top 4x4 modified to the max some of them.. waded through almost waist high trenches (muddy of course) 90 degree slopes braved the snakes, mosquitos, fishes and frogs.... (sounds familiar) anyway.. i didn't even stay awake for the new years count down.. we had this challenge for 2 days by the way .. 31 dec - 1 jan.. so i was totally exhausted after.. got four pictures for ya'll .,.. yours truly was the videoman.. hahaha :) (not in pictures by the way)

well here i am.. late again on the updates.. but better late than never (that sounds oh so familiar).. had some pictures taken of these awesome 4x4s during registration time for the Borneo Safari 2009 competition at Likas Square.. the only time you'll actually see them clean before they wade in mud, rocks and sand... too bad i won't be able to see them perform.. by the way Borneo Safari is an annual event here in Sabah.. and it usually brings in participants from Japan, Australia, US and many more countries but a whole lot of them are locals... they compete they help each go thru unchartered territory and have loads of fun.... maybe next year i'll go along with their convoy.. maybe next year :) ...

four wheel drives are a passion amongst most of us here in sabah.. when it comes to competition, we just get into this frenzy about engines and stuff, you're talking about terms like 15B turbo intercooler, 1kz'ses :) , super winch , ninja axles (they're actually land cruisers we just call'em ninjas because they look like dem ninja turtle power .. hohoho) and so much more, these competitors try outdo their opponents by clocking in the best time and of course finishing their SS ( special stages) i'll be posting 4x4s when ever i get to so get in gear . these pictures were taken at Kota Marudu sometime this year.. ok.. i must say .. i forgot .. about this.. it's been 3 months now and i just got reading to it from my earlier post... hahah.. but better late than never .. i am really trying hard not to stop blogging things but it's easier said than done huh.. geez if i'm ever going to make money out of blogging i gotta be more pro active , hmmm??? so the trip was kind of like not planned but i took that 1 holiday and spent like lotsa of money ... movies, shopping, staying at the Le Meridian Hotel... and going to a day of basking in the sun at Manukan Island, one of the few National Parks here in Sabah... yep everything we did on that day was in Kota Kinabalu how cheap.. yeah right.. !!! there were hoardes of people there at the island.. (school holidays no wonder) but really when was the last time i went there?? ..ok.. 20 years maybe.. or more maybe.. maybe.. fish was abundant.. they don't swim away... i mean really u get a whole lot if you cast a net close to the jetty.. but of course that's outta bounds... there are several chalets to stay in a store for your chips and drinks, a stall that sell snacks and other kind of foodstuff .. the earliest ride there is probably around 8 or 9am and the last boat to get out of there is 5pm(by the way you ride the same boat home too.. it's all in the package)....cost rm50/head(if my feeble brain can remember) we travelled by boat of course for about 30 minutes.. thought it would be a smooth ride but darn.. bumps here and there.. the wife was screaming all the way.. first time for her.. ahahahah .. i was to embarrased .. but one sharp turn too almost took my heart away.. :) lol .. looked behind to see a 12-13 year old kid manuevering behind the wheel..(the kid in the white collared T) (*&* .. well there you go .. till my next post .. :)

Maliau Basin it's called.. kinda like a large crater in the middle of Sabah, Malaysia.. it doesn't matter what sort of camera, (handphone, cellphone, digicam, dslr etc), just bring one along with you wherever you go,... you might be lucky and catch some stunning photos of things around you... unless you have the unusual ability to record what u see and later place them on paper, being eveready :) is utmostly important.___ anyway Mt Kinabalu is once again of topic here, taken while driving back home to Kota Marudu (for those of you who don't know where this is .. it's at the northern part of Sabah (Borneo Island) Malaysia, i was once again awwed by the spectacular icon of Sabah .. stopped right before Tenghilan town, and the sun almost setting to the west... clouds had descended in a circular motion atop the peak of the Mt. as if aliens were landing.. (several cars had also pulled over to photograph the wonders..all them had DSLRs) an almost full moon can also be seen hovering the sky in somewhat looking down on the phenomenon.. :) (words i can't describe myself)hahahh ... i've seen this once in a book on Sabah but have yet to see it in real life.. now I have.. :)

yesterday, May 18,2009 was world museum day (i guess it's all over the world) so guess what .. i went because entrance was free, i was ready to take lots of pictures but boo hoo hoo, cameras were not allowed in the galleries.. why???!!!???? i was told to bring my camera down to some room for safe keeping.. yeah right.. i wasn't about to fall for that.. now i don't want to lose my camera and the pictures i've taken that was saved on my cf card while being kept "safely" .. not that i didn't trust them.. wait . . i don't trust them.. :P so at least i got past the front door to a full view of the whale that died off Pulau Gaya, it was an amazing sight huge, and to think that there was actually a whale really close to our shores,.. never before in my life time have i heard of such an encounter.. too bad though it died from it's injuries.. anyway so i left feeling sad but with a tinge of optimism that i'll be back with just a digicam shooting paparazi pix inside.. (nah jkidding).. (i wouldn't let go of my dslr ever) but i did take some pictures outside of the building, they had old steam engines and vintage cars,.. not too many of those though.. anyway it was a good 30minute outing..

every year starting May 1, the whole of Sabah celebrates a month long festival of cultural extravaganza. this festival brings together all walks of life in Sabah to show the ethnicity of the various groups and their culture. the harvest festivals are usually celebrated by the Dusuns, Kadazans, Muruts, Rungus just to name a few.. at the district levels they usually have agricultural shows, games, exhibitions and not forgetting the very popular Unduk Ngadau.. or harvest queen. in this post i visited the Rungus exhibition house at the Kota Marudu District Level Harvest Festival and made off with memorable pictures of them. modern times have changed how they live and work, but it's nice to know they still haven't forgotten their culture.

so i gotta tell u guys that this is one of my favorite dishes.. the roti canai kosong (not zero) but plain .. hehehe .. i'm not sure how the dough is made but yeah,, it's flour, water, salt and oil.. i'm not sure about the yeast though.. maybe in a later post for the ingredients.. but one thing for sure it really can stretch ... i've seen people making pizza from start and the dough can stretch as well but somehow it's thicker that the roti canai.. when it's twirled like u see in the picture it gets pretty thin .. check out the hole in one of them.. gots to be done by a professional really.. :) .. anyway it's molded to a round kinda like pancake (sometimes square) and then fried over a hot pan... takes about 5 to 10 minutes depending on the heat. ... now so far Restoran Islamic located at the basement close to Pizza Hut over at CenterPointSabah has the best texture and taste for this roti canai kosong.. it's flavorable curry and dhal (pinto seeds curry) are the best tasting so far around that i've eaten.. cost.. rm1.00 per roti(** prices may change without notice :) .. flush it down with teh tarik ping (iced pulled tea ... hahaha :) rm1.80(same as the above **:)

Bangus .. a kind of fried Fish from the Philippines

so George and Hazel came back from the Philippines and brought some yummy goodies.. doughnuts, a coconut pie .. and yes the famous (that's what alot of them say coming back from there) the bangus... taking a look at it, looks somewhat like my fried fish but then again it did have some sort of distinct taste and texture that mine lacks.. it's rubbery than any fish i've eaten, wait actually this one kind of Red Snapper was more rubbery that should be in some other post later :) .. (but maybe it's because of the high altitude from the flight back, ok what an excuse) i'm sure it would've been crispy if it was fresh from the wok.. so this was around Clark Airport in the Philippines they say ... CHOWKING to be exact .. so if you ever make it there including myself.. make sure you get this eatery on your itenerary ....

can you believe this, i was up and about at 5:30am (snooze the alarm 2wice) just because i promised my wife i'd be the first to get up.. actually i wanted to prove to her i could.. will i do that again?? it was still kind of dark.... :) .. anyways looking out our bedroom window, the early morning sunrise caught my eye, still in its' infancy but looked to be a promising display of radiant beams.. :) (literature gimmick) ok then the journey to work begins (6:20am)... so i was speeding at 90km/hr down the telibong stretch trying to get my wife to work early, but a tap on my back(ok i was constantly monitoring the colors of the sky behind me, unknown to my wife .. heheh) until bamblingboom.. :)i had to make a sudden U-turn and made a pitstop at the bantayan hanging bridge and there it was in all its' glory the Kinabalu Sunrise i've been waiting for........ by the by i still got my wife and myself to work on time :)

so i've started of looking for new food and came across this stall called hot&roll (actually i've been passing this stall hundreds of times(highly exaggerated) but didn't really care much of it's existence) well that particular day i stopped, tasted their free stuff(taste test.. but was cold already so it didn't go down that well)... and hey ... twas pretty good.. of course i bought a fresh warm crispy chicken cheese .... ingredients ------it's like a really thin piece of pancake batter poured on a hot plate, stuffed with cheese, chicken ham.. some sort of herb/s , salt and i dunno what else.. it looked easy to make..and yes it was crispy... price - rm7 while the stuffed paratha (thicker version) is priced rm5 .. it's a lil bit small. :)

located at the frontside of the mall beside (or close to) 7 11 , this is one grillhouse u gotta go to... the inside feels warm and welcome as you are greeted by really friendly waiters, at least i got a good one.. :) .. and the rest of course we say is history..
starting off the makan-makan we ordered caesar salad and chicken nachos.. all i can say about this is too much dressing on the salad and very i mean very stale nachos chips.... they could've been crispier... but next time when i do get the caesar salad i'll have the dressing on the side.. that way i can have better control on it .. :) ok.. so do you notice the green colored creamy stuff.. well that's green pea sauce u can say.. it's an alternative to guacomole .. avocado cream sauce.. i guess it's too expensive to avocodos here.. anyway it really works.. delicious..

can it get any better... so far the best grilled chicken i've tasted here in KK, apart from my cooking that is .. (there's always a special part of me that i boast about.. heheh) .. anyway perfect on the grill with the chicken skin just right on it's crisp.. ?hmm .. that's the portugese grilled chicken that i chose that evening... garnished with vegetables and fries topped with a sweet tangy bbq sauce.. the chicken meat was tender and moist.. i think i shall have it another day.. :) well my wife had the grilled salmon, topped with butter and tartar sauce it was equally delicious... for those of you wanting that "fishyness" tingling in your mouth this is what to go for.. i almost left my grilled chicken for it .. "NOT" .. heheh .. chicken night for me then.. garnished with mixed vegetables and two tiny potatoes.. yum yum..

i like the aroma of coffee, of course i don't drink it straight up.. i always have mine decaffeinated and mixed with chocolate.. San Francisco Coffee makes pretty good mocha lattes.. it's not too bitter and of course we can control sugar.. i'm on a sugar free drink nowadays.. i do use a sachet of pal sweet once in a while..
anyway according to my taste buds Starbucks and Coffee Bean does have a slight bittery taste to it's mocha's (probably cuz they put too much coffee in their cups) but if you don't see a San Francisco Coffee chain than Starbucks or Coffee Bean will do :) ..... price for a medium sized mocha latte rm11 .... somewhere around that .. the only SF Coffee around KK is at Warisan Square behind the CentrePoint KK and facing the Waterfront.. look for it :)

Mee Hoon Soup Ikan Campurx2 (Vermicelli Fish Soup)

the title says it all.. ok campur-campur means mixed, so if it's ikan campur-campur... basically means all parts of the fish (u're talking intestines, skin, head, fish balls "ok not the one u're probably thinkin about it's basically ground fish made into tiny balls"... hehe i like that, caviar "fish eggs" you name it...) you can pick any of these condiments and mix it in a sour and spicy fish soup based (possible ingredients hamchoi "pickled cabbage", tomatoes, maybe loads of MSG "hopefully not"( ajinomoto as we call it)... salt and probably fish innards and bones for that fishy taste :) ) ok.. the cost.... rm6 for a small bowl.. and rm8 for "KALIAU" for a big bowl.. u can also choose several type of noodles.. they have the "tuaran mien (yellow noodles)", kuey tiau "flat vermicelli" and of course mee hoon, thin vermicelli.. and it's not only soup but you can have konlau mein too which is dry noodles with soup on the side.. ******* ok so here is where u can find this place... it's at bandaran.. and it's Kedai Kopi Sin Houng Kee, they open daily from about 6: 30am till 1:30pm (sometimes later).., that's if they don't run out of their condiments... if u look across the road that's the Cathay Cinema... :) ************

one of the most beautiful pictures you can possibly take are pictures of nature.. i have still lots to learn in getting these right.. but you know what?? it's probably getting bit by mosquitos and chased by flies and bees that get me down.. :)... no just kidding.. haven't had much time off to actually do some nature shots, i'm still saving on getting me a macro lens.. and a zoom lens.. but really am happy with my 17-55 f2.8 USM canon lens... this post i have padi fields in Panaitan Kota marudu and a grass family along marak-parak "highway" heheheh :)

it's that time of year again where giving seems to overtake all other random acts you can think of,.. i use to think that christmas time means a lot of presents, new gadgets, toys and really everything was about me, myself and I,.. i always had that feeling of wanting back the gifts i've given to others... how selfish can one get during this time of year.. it's the scrooge syndrome i guess,.. but throughout the years i've learn to appreciate life instead of all the things i get, ... family, mom and dad, in-laws (hmmm just kidding) they've been really supportive in almost everything :) relatives and friends,,... u know they keep u sane when everything else goes bad.. it's just like that.. anyway i've taken this liking of taking pictures of christmas tree ornaments,.. they're really pretty.. so i hope that'll strike the christmas mood in you .. :) .. the Little Santa.. well that's Delbert .. Potluck at Kg Panaitan SDA Church

now if U want to talk about traditional food.. u gotta go to the roots.. :).. so i'm at my wife's home church, a special Sabbath because we had a special guest, and of course special food... we ended quite late that day from the traditional (almost) 11:45am... somewhere close to 1pm(but all for a good cause of course) anyway come to the food.. i only had a chance to "salvage" a few dishes, as u can see, purple(unpolished) mixed with polished white rice, a non traditional "HOTDOG" heehehe, a half of a boiled egg, ... and do you see the brown stuff, ya that's what u call "BOSOU" traditional pickles made of all sorts (i mean u can make all kinds of bosou) but this in particular is the famous banana stem.. salty and sour.. of course u got to mix all them ingredients which i will post in the near future.. mmmhmm.. just goes good with rice.. and for desert, donut :) and glutinous rice laced with banana on banana leaf.. how about that for traditional.. :)

i've never really been to a race track (accept the one i lost to in a track n field event :(.. in grade school) so this is a first for me... yep F2 powerboat racing right here in KK, sabah.. not the average car race track but it was all sea, salt, seagulls u name it.. clear blue ocean, was actually thrilled to hear the roar of their engines.. i don't watch this kind of thing on TV never had a thing for it but to my surprise it was exciting... so what's next for me... i think the Sepang Circuit over in KL.. maybe one day.... :)

A Musical Enchantment with Prima Vista Quartet

i won't go beyond november in my blog so i had to put this in,. one of the finer moments in music, a four string quartet, PRIMA VISTA, as they call themselves from Poland,. it was held at the University Malaysia Sabah Recital Hall on November 20 2008, and they were just astounding... they played Mozart, Chopin and Vivaldi, like there was no tomorrow., i don't know what it is about strings., it's just so mesmerizing, all the VIPs from Tourism Ministry were there to support them as well as the ambassador for Poland to Malaysia .. i think.. anyway most of the SASS orchestra musicians too came to watch and i'm REALLY SURE they had a blast..
ok.. don't be surprised if one day i'll post a picture of a violin in my blog..., that's the time i'll be practicing in my old age an instrument i left so long ago .. :)

wow.. so i tasted this dish from my sister in law.. (she could actually eat more than i can even though she's only in 6th grade and not fat :O .. of course i didn't ask if i could have some so she was a bit mad about that.. hahah :)) .. and it really taste as good as it looks.. perfectly lined-up coated chicken strips, garnished with tomato, cucumber and lettuce and splashed with lemon sauce ... doesn't that make your mouth water?? :)

Unison (my singing group of 10 years now) were invited to sing for a friend's wedding at kg Rani, Tenghilan last sunday dec 7, 2008.. a state football (soccer) player by profession .. anyway i thought we did a good job singing but then again my wife said we sounded like we didn't have anything to eat that morning... go figure.. :) here are some papparazi pictures i took, i say this cuz i overtook some official photographers hahahhaa...

these were the first few words i heard in the morning today from my neighbour Uncle Mitty... i was probably dreaming though.. cuz i didn't get up straight away... my dad was already out the door when my wife screamed at me the same few words.. "tamparuli or maybe SASS on fire" she wasn't sure as well.. so i got up .. still in my boxers and looked out.. sure enuff.. yep.. "TAMPARULI IS ON FIRE!!"
really nothing left of those shophouses, an unlucky mercedez got halfed burnt in the fire.. that too was distinguished by firemen.. the dog didn't mind the heat... you know how windy it gets in Tamparuli every morning .. :) anyway here are some photos that i took (will post some more on FB)... i'll MISS those shops... :(

this concoction i made.. wanted a light dinner... so bought some some kind of fish.. "shuski" fillets something like that topped with garlic seasoning, garlic bread, KFC coleslaw (didn't have lettuce so couldn't make fresh salad), cream of chicken soup "dipped those toasted garlic bread to perfection) and papaya for desert... it was quite filling.. yummy...

i couldn't agree more with that statement.... the fish n chips at Fish n Co is by far the "bestest".. it cost around rm16 served with fries or rice .. not so expensive.. and totally filling.,, a slice of lemon to top it all ... squueeeeze real hard and get them juices on to that fried fish.. you'll be satisfied.. located at Warisan Square and 1Borneo....

Mee Soup Kota Belud.. !!

ok.. so for my first entry in food indulging :) .. is this dish called "mee sup ayam" or the English version of it Mee sup Ayam.. hahaha.. Chicken Noodle Soup.. rice vermicelli (rice noodles) dipped in chicken based soup, spring onions, fried pickled veggies "white carrots/raddish", doused with black pepper, vinegar and redhot chillies "this you put in to your hearts desire" and of course pieces of chicken. each restaurant in sabah has a style of it's own... this one (above picture) in particular is in the district of Kota Belud. a row of wooden stalls right behind the towns football field and next to the pasar "open market".... i've heard people say that this "mee sup ayam" is "the best in the wol (world)" hahahhah.. i'm convinced...
